Prints and Drawings
This work is the result of a collaboration with Holland Area Big Read and middle school students of City Middle School in Zeeland, MI. As a resident artist for the Big Read, I collaborated with three classes to create artwork inspired by their reading of When the Emperor Was Divine, a novel about a family's experience in a Japanese internment camp.
Students photographed and drew personal items that they would take, if they were suddenly displaced from their homes. I then translated their drawings into etchings, which I used in this collage here.
