Over the course of a semester, CultureWorks students met with residents from a neighboring low-income housing project and learned their stories. Students practiced being responsive listeners as they visually translated the the biographical information of their neighbor into a hand-printed book. Each student made two books and later presented their resident with a copy.

This is the first time any one has cared enough to listen to my story, let alone make something of it," one resident shared.

Role: Pelz proposed and implemented the project and taught the CultureWorks class. She received a grant from the Junior Welfare League of Holland for this project.
