Curatorial > Suspension of Belief

Tubergen’s photos are accounts of suspended moments between groundings. Like a cartographer, she faithfully records the precarious terrain between opposite states– between earth and sky, blood and flesh, doubt and belief. In the two photo series, “Perpetual Twilight” and “Belief”, we are witness to the improbable realities of an eternal sunset and the corporeality of a risen God. In these suspended moments, documentation becomes a substitute for certainty.

Tubergen is a New York based artist versatile in her craft, working as a painter, sculptor, and installation artist. Her work is often concerned with the space between places, objects, words, or people. She has exhibited her work throughout America, Iceland, and Britain
